Be a scientist for one day with the “hands on particles”!
Starting from 2023, the Pierre Auger Observatory organizes every year International Masterclass events for high-school students worldwide, under the framework of the International Masterclasses Program managed by the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPOGG).
During this activity, high-school students (15-18 years old) spend one full day at universities or research institutes. They learn about particle/astroparticle physics, about the Pierre Auger Observatory and analyze the Auger public data to look for answers to the question: “What is the origin of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays?” Afterwards, the students participate in a joint videoconference with their peers at other locations and with scientists at the Pierre Auger Observatory in Malargue, to discuss their results and make a virtual visit to the observatory.
The full information to participate, including the documentation and a complete set of materials, may be found at the
Auger Masterclasses webpage.
